When I walked in the facility today one of the guys asked me to carry a chair to the court and I made a silly joke suggesting I wouldn’t. He told me I could carry the net instead, which I couldn’t actually physically do. I should stop with jokes. The facility got new nets! A few of the guys from our group put one together and they are fancy nets on wheels. Not the super fancy nets on wheels, but nice nets. I still haven’t figure out how people pick up the nets from the middle and walk them to a spot without anyone helping them but these nets eliminate the need for that effort.
Boy oh boy was I hurting today. I had trouble in multiple areas: my IT band, my knees, and a first, my left arm (shoulder and elbow). I’d say it’s time to rest, I’m up to 8 court visits in 6 days, but I’d rather pretend drinking more water would do the trick, washing away my aches and pains. I doubt I will ever know, I always forget to drink plain water.
The left arm thing is kind of alarming, I missed a serve because it hurt. What in the world is that all about? How do you rest an arm?
I played with or against everyone so the rotation was good and I used the Icon all day. I’m still undecided about buying a bunch of version 1 Icons. Today my mind wandered and I considered asking to buy one of those Black Aces from the ProKennex guy in town. He let me use it once and I liked it, up until I heard the “shake” I read about in some of the online reviews. I’ve got enough going through my head when I play without thinking about the sounds my paddle makes.
There were a lot of good games today. I played one game with the other lady there and we took on 2 guys who came out hot, smacking us around until they jumped out to an 8-0 lead. We fought back slowly and forced the game to overtime. I seriously was thankful we got 1 point and didn’t get skunked so to do as well as we did was pretty awesome. I can’t remember who won, which probably means we didn’t, but I know we went past 12. Even if the guys started taking it easy on us, which very well could have been what happened, it was a great game. There were a couple of other games that were hard fought as well. I got hit in one of those games and I winced in pain, which also could have looked like anger, but that dang ball hit me right on my hand, slamming 2 of my fingers and it was a real zinger. After the game they asked if I was ok and I said yes, it just got me on my fingers and when I went to show them where I revealed I was bleeding. I was bleeding on the pickleball court for the second time in one month!
I landed 1 ATP and other than the extra soreness it was a great day of play.
