It was the first time in a long time that a bad day overwhelmed me, making it hard to have fun. I didn’t have a bad time, I wasn’t disappointed with my play or the play of anyone else, I just kind of was in a funk.
It was ladies night and we had good games. I think the score was close in most of them.
Some of the players have a tendency to stay off the kitchen line – something I notice I’m doing (and don’t like) – which means I have to change the way I play in order to win a point. At first I was like, dang it, I don’t need to practice playing this type of game. Then I was like, well the game is always evolving so for all I know the super high level players are playing from the transition zone as well.
My serve did pretty well and every now and then I landed some powerful forehand shots.
I tried a couple of times to hit a ball right handed, even though it wasn’t an overhead, and boy was one of my attempts hilarious. I mean it was like to the moon. I’m pretty sure I hit the back wall at approximately 8 feet high, maybe higher. The second one I missed I believe went in the net. It’s not in my best interest to hit it right handed but I love the idea of having a put away with that hand.
I hit 3 ATPs on the night, 1 forehand and 2 backhands. One of them wasn’t successful but counted thanks to my opponent hitting it.
