What is pickleball?

Pickleball is a sport played on a 20’x44’ court with a 36’ high (34’ in the middle) net separating sides. A paddle is used to hit a plastic ball with holes, earning a point when an opponent isn’t able to return the ball successfully.

The sport is easy to learn, fun and offers a challenging form of exercise in an environment that has a feeling of community, despite the competitive nature. Players can often show up to a court for “open” play, jumping in for a game without lining up a group or competitor. The welcoming element of the sport makes it a highly social sport, a unique way to make friends and stay active as an adult (or child).

Multiple news outlets have done segments on the sport, likely because of its rapid growth and the common obsessive desire to play after stepping on the court one time.
